Volunteer

We run on volunteer-power! Tasks involve food pick-ups, weighing and sorting, packing, managing shifts, set up/clean up and community engagement.

Why we need
your help

On The House aims to reduce food waste while feeding hungry people. It’s a brilliantly simple concept.

We are made up of a group of passionate volunteers and that means we are always in need of willing folks (like you!) to help give us a hand.

What it involves

We are a friendly, supportive group of volunteers who believe everyone has something to contribute.

Free Store tasks include food pick-up, sorting food, managing shifts, serving, set up, clean up, and community engagement.

Community Food Hub tasks include quality checking, allocating, recording, and storing surplus food ready for community groups to collect.

What happens next

After you fill out our sign-up form, we will be in touch to organise your induction date to give you an inside peek at our operations.

If you decide On The House is the right fit for you, we will then get you on the roster to join our awesome crew and perform the tasks you love to do best.

I’m not sure…

That’s cool. We understand that it feels like a big committment of time and energy. That’s why we do three things to help:

1. We contact you to discuss how you could help
2. We allow you to come and “try it out”
3. We offer behind-the-scenes alternatives to utilise your talents and care.
